It’s citrus season. We have hundreds, and they’re delicious. Bright orange tangerines outside the bedroom window and easy to peel, juicy, yummy satsumas in the back yard. The trees are practically groaning under the weight of all the fruit.
Last night as I popped a satsuma section into my mouth, waiting for the explosion of orangey sweetness, I thought, “Wow. It’s like having an orange candy tree except even better.”
If you don’t have your own citrus trees but you live in Louisiana, the farmers’ markets are great places to grab a bag or two or three. Once you get started, you’re not going to want to stop . . .

Gorgeous citrus! I hope our trees will do that someday!
Sometimes it takes a couple of years and then they bear like crazy! This one was almost fruit-free last year. . .
I so jealous – its getting colder and colder in Denmark right now
Time to travel to warmer climes!
Lucky devil you! Maybe I can try growing on indoors… They do look delectable!
I’m working on catching up again after a hectic workshop week again.
Indoor citrus is a good idea! Even a lemon tree – yum!
Your pictures are beautiful! I can’t eat citrus (canker sores and acid stomach), but love the fragrance of it – and now the sight, too!
Glad you enjoyed the images, Stef!
Oh wow! How lucky you are! I love citrus, but it’s too cold up here to grow it. Your photos are gorgeous (and yummy!).
Thanks so much! We do love our citrus . . .
