Rethinking the firehose

Firehose vs. nap? Nap wins!

I read this article today, entitled “Hurry up, get more done, and die“.  I think it’s worth the read.  There’s no way for me to process everything coming through the fire hose of information, and I’m really trying to stay cognizant of how I’m spending my time drinking from the hose.  And keeping a balance – more is not necessarily better.  Learning what’s enough, whether it’s food, information, television, reading, stuff in our homes – it seems to be the lesson for our privileged western 21st century lives.

As always, my cat is one of my greatest teachers.

I read the article and said a quiet Thank God that I am not plugged in within an inch of my life… It is disturbing to see people run themselves ragged over some nonsense about being totally on top of everything… I agree with the author…hurry up and die. Phew. TY! ;-)

I have never read the article but I can imagine what the author wants to say.
It’s very important to rest and sleep for a long time like a cat.

Took a cat nap in my car after school before photo class. When I woke up I wondered why I was running myself ragged. We went on a tour of a greenhouse and saw hydroponic crops and orchid crops. It was interesting but I was too exhausted to appreciate the experience. And there was the shooting, the uploading and dealing with the images…. sometimes you just need a break
TOday? a field trip with the 8th graders! Oh my. I will think of your peaceful cat today.

Exactly. More is not necessarily better in nearly all realms of our life – but sadly for your cat, this includes sleep, too. ;)

  5. Well said, Carla. Reggie teaches me something new every day. I am forever grateful to him.

Life is about balance. When we find the right balance then we have truly accomplished something. Nice post!
