The cat is always a good stand in when I don't have an appropriate picture. Lucky him - he has no deadlines!
Good things:
1. Yep, I gave blood today. I am now on the local hospital’s list and so they call me as soon as it’s been eight weeks. Which goes really fast. But when they call and I don’t have any reason not to give blood, then I think, “How hard is it to give up thirty minutes of my time to do something that could be so valuable to someone who’s sick?” So I go back and give blood. It almost always goes well. I think the second time I gave blood, years ago, I almost peed, pooped, vomited and passed out all at once, but thankfully they turned me upside down right away and iced my neck and that settled my body’s reactions right down. Since then I haven’t had any trouble. But I’m always a little nervous.
2. My friend Christie is in town! She hasn’t been here for a Mardi Gras parade since 2000! I look forward to catching some parades with her and her husband and two small boys. This will be the boys’ first Carnival.
3. The weather is gorgeous.
Not so good things:
1. I have GIANT deadlines looming. I have potentially more work to do than time remaining. I’m going to have to get me some discipline over the next four days – yes, including the weekend full of PARADES!!!! Wish me luck with that!!
2. That’s really the only not so good thing right now. Work work work. Gotta get this done, and then I’ll be more thoughtful about taking on projects like this in the future, or do better with my time leading up to the deadlines!

I give blood regularly, too. It is such an easy thing to do for others. Thanks for reminding others to do so by blogging about it!
Plus, your cat is quite photogenic. I don’t mind him at all.
Thanks, Kim!
Sweet cat! What is on the menu for all the festivities? and next Tuesday?
Good luck with the deadlines.
Thanks, Ruth! We still have two Tuesdays to go! Mardi Gras is not until March 8!!!
Awww woman, quit rubbing it in about the weather! We are getting another 7-9 inches of blowing snow today…here in the Great White North
Sorry! At least it’s still hot chocolate weather, and you’re not sneezing from allergies, as I am! And you can go x-c skiing! Or snowshoeing
I love your positivity!
Donating blood is fabulous. I also used to donate every 8 weeks (usually to the day); but then my health changed, and now I usually don’t qualify to give blood.
But if I do get to qualify in the future, I will certainly resume the donations!
Yes – it’s not hard at all and they give you juice and snacks too! And a t-shirt. And I’m in a drawing for a TV! And I feel fine – like nothing happened! So you’re right that it’s fabulous!
And my husband (who does still donate every 8 weeks) claims that he feels rejuvenated after giving blood – like they took out old oil, and his body makes new, fresh stuff that makes him feel good.
And he likes the cookies and apple juice.
